Sidi Ifni is relatively busy in the middle of winter with camper van visitors but the rest of the year it can be a pleasant, if unusual, place to stay. Much of the colonial heritage is, unfortunately, crumbling but there are signs of some new investment and an increasing choice of good places to eat.
The town of Sidi Ifni is quite unique in this part of Morocco as, until 1969, it was a Spanish enclave and so has a very different atmosphere and style to the surrounding region. The Hotel La Marine is located just above the beach with fantastic sea views and is central to all the facilities of the town. The building itself was lovingly restored in recent years, something that is also happening gradullay to the town as a whole.
Accommodation:La Marine has four good quality large rooms (2 sea facing), all ensuite with a/c and lots of character, incluidng many pieces of period furniture.
Facilities: The hotel has a lovely bar and huge lounge, both stuffed full of books and music; there is a private dining room for guests upstairs with a sea view and the main restaurant is next door.
