Kamari
Beaches on Santorini are unusual as they are formed from black volcanic sand and Kamari's beach stretches for 2 kms. Kamari is a popular resort with families. Hotels, and a wealth of restaurants, tavernas and small shops are located along the promenade, which is pedestrianised.
If you fancy a day away from the beach then there is an interesting walk from the square in Kamari, up to ancient Thira. As this site is on top of Mesa Vouno mountain the views from here are stunning. At the site you will see the agora, Temple of Dionysos and the sanctuary of Artemidoros. The walk will take around an hour each way but there are also excursions to the site which run from Kamari.
