North Pole Post Office Day Trip to Lapland - 2010

At last Santa's elves have revealed the location of the original Post Office. It is located at Vaattunki, in a forested setting above the Arctic Circle. This is one of the most beautiful natural settings in Lapland.

The day will evoke memories of brass counters, sealing wax and pigeon holes and you will be able to see Santa's original star navigation system. Here at his original post office Santa continues to handle letters from all over the world with the help of his elves.

After arriving in Rovaniemi and once you have collected your thermal clothing you will be whisked off by coach to this secret location. The elves tell us that during December Santa is often seen close to his post office, supervising the handling of his present requests but that he will spare the time to meet visitors to his home. The location is very beautiful, totally uncommercialised, with traditional lantern lighting and ice lights.

The range of activities during the day ensures fun for all. You can enjoy an exhilarating husky sled ride, a slower reindeer sleigh ride, snowmobiles for adults and children and tobogganing. No visit to Lapland would be complete without a visit to Santa and he may be found on an island, reached by a wooden bridge. Each family will have the opportunity to meet him and to discuss their Christmas wishes and each child (2-11) will receive a gift.

Don't forget to visit the old post office where you can meet with Santa's Post Office Elves and learn how the old style of letter collection has been combined with Santa's own brand of magic! There is the opportunity to purchase stamps and mail your own Christmas cards if you wish. Lunch will be served in a traditional wooden restaurant where a simple but warming meal will be served. As evening approaches it is time to bid farewell to Santa.

NB: Please note that this destination is totally unconnected with the very commercialised Arctic Circle Post Office, which forms part of the Arctic Circle shopping centre north of Rovaniemi.
