Oukaimeden

The High Atlas Mountains are dominated by some of North Africa's highest peaks and their breathtaking size towering above the Berber villages provides a backdrop for our selction of retreats. Situated in the dramatic foothils of the High Atlas Mountains, surrounded by almond blossom in early spring and just an hour's drive south of Marrakech.

Between December and March it is possible to ski or snowboard at Oukaimeden in the High Atlas (just an hour from Ouirgane or 1 1/2 hrs from Marrakech).  The hotel here has a stunning setting within the ski resort of Oukaimeden that boasts impressive views out across the High Atlas range. Perfect for a few days skiing in Winter or as a relaxing getaway or walking base at any time of year.

The Louka Hotel is located right up into the High Atlas at Oukaimeden. Heading south from Marrakech one quickly rises up from the plain into the foothills of the High Atlas; this is true Berber country and just like La Roseraie at Ouirgaine Oukaimeden is located near to one such mountain community. However, this hotel is as high as you get in Morocco and the associated ski resort (January - March) had the highest ski lift in the world until relatively recently. The hotel is ideally positioned just a few minutes walk from the ski facilities in winter and at the starting point of many excellent walking trails for most of the rest of the year. Nearly every part of this hotel has a wonderful view of the mountains - highly recommended for lovers of the great outdoors.
