Villa Nora

(Hvar)

The The Villa Nora is a new hotel situated in the middle of Hvar old town, enclosed by the 14th century walls with fortifications towering above the city. The hotel is surrounded by tiny streets favoured during the island’s history by artists and adventurers searching for their inspiration, it is framed by old palaces built in gothic and renaissance architecture. These surroundings and the charm of the hotel itself will allow you feel the atmosphere of ancient mediaeval Hvar. This ancient Palace, built in the XIV century, once the rich and magnificent residence of the aristocratic family Gazzari, has been completely restored as the elegant and refined Hotel Villa Nora.

At the Villa Nora you can enjoy the mediaeval atmosphere of the old town whilst relaxing in rooms furnished to a high-quality. The most distinguished member of the Gazzari family was Marin Gazarovic, writer and composer of dramatic poems and lyrics, who was born in 1575 in the house which is today Villa Nora. In 2006 an inscription was placed on the outside wall of the Palace to remember the street where the famous artist was born.

Accommodation: The Villa Nora offers very comfortable accommodation in 5 large junior suites (30 m² to 40 m²) and 4 superior rooms.  Rooms are designed in traditional style but include many modern touches. Three of the Junior Suites have large balconies. The superior rooms have bedrooms with an area of around 20 m² (one of them has 2 rooms and 2 bathrooms and is ideally suited for families). All rooms feature queen size beds, and have old town view as well as air-conditioning, LCD satellite TV, Hair dryer, FREE Wi-Fi in room and 24hr room service.

Facilities: The restaurant Lucullus has been open in Hvar town from many years now and is justly famous for its typical dishes and for the extravagant cook, who will join you during your meals and entertain you with his stories. For dinner you can try some traditional specialties of Hvar island: goat with potatoes cooked in a brick oven, cheese with capers and olive oil, Carpaccio of fish, soup of langoustine, Mussels and many more. The “imperator” (as they call him in Hvar) Antun Matkovic, prepares meals under his great cook's rule: “no food is good if the cook preparing does not use his fingers and his weight is not over a hundred kilos”.
