An 18th Century traditional riad located the central square of Moulay Hassan, very near to the fishing harbour of Essaouira's Medina. An elegant mid-priced riad, ideal for the first time visitor. A small, intimate atmosphere pervades this gem which is decorated in a simple yet elegant manner; the friendliness of the owner James, is such that you truly feel as though you have entered an old friend’s home. Dar Ness has been featured in many magazines since it opened. Traditional furnishings sit alongside watercolours of Morocco, the original stonework has remained in place above each doorway, bright colours really make the place come alive, thick Berber blankets take the chill off in winter.
The aim here is to totally relax and to escape the frantic pace of life. Comfortable and spacious rooms, sunny roof terrace and a cosy fireplace and atmosphere downstairs.

Accommodation: Before the house was converted there were six families living here (35 persons) but now the house is a little less crowded as there are only six standard rooms and three mini-suites, all en suite with shower. Accommodation is simple in style, the rooms are mostly doubles or twins however there is also a triple suite with a lounge and a large room which can sleep a family of four with a double bed and twin beds.
One unusual little room lies between floors and has a window looking down to the courtyard. This would not be a suitable room for anyone over 6ft as you have to duck going through the door! The double bed with Berber throw almost fills the room and the bathroom is reached via a wooden ladder down to the floor below. It would be wise to watch your step carefully if you have a few glasses of wine at dinner!!

Facilities: The dining room can accommodate ten persons and lunch and dinner are on request here. After sampling the delicious food you can relax in the cosy lounge with a crackling fire if it is cold and listen to music or read a book. Alternatively take a breath of fresh air on the roof terrace and enjoy the view over the town towards the Atlantic.
