Athens in the morning...

Parthenon Greek evzones Panathenaic Stadium

This popular tour gives you the opportunity to observe the strking contrasts that make Athens such a fascinating city. Your expert guide will take you to the centre of the city: Syntagma (Constitution) Square, the Greek Parliament building, the Memorial to the Unknown Soldier, the Academy of Sciences, the University and the National Library. Driving down Herod Atticus street you will delight in seeing the Presidential Guard (Evzones) in their picturesque and very unusual costumes, outside the Presidential residence. En route to the Acropolis you will see the Panathenaic Stadium, where the first Olympic games of the modern era were held in 1896, and the Athens of the 2nd century AD, the Temple of Olympian Zeus and Hadrian's Arch.

On the Acropolis you will visit the museum and the architectural masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: the Propylaea, the Temple of Athenian Nike, the Erechteion and finally the ' harmony between matter and spirit', the monument that 'puts order in the mind', the Parthenon

After this visit follows the visit of the new Acropolis Museum, located on the ancient road that led up to the "sacred rock" in classical times, housing every artifact found on the rock and on its feet, from the Greek Bronze Age to Roman and Byzantine Greece. A walk through its galleries is a walk through history – between the masterpieces of the Archaic and Classical periods, but also in the ancient neighbourhoods of Athens.

Included is a complimentary pick up and drop off service from your Athens hotel.

Please note that the museum will not be included on the Monday tours.

Departure time: approximately 08:45 Return time: approximately 12:15
